NEWS RELEASE
NIAGARA REGION
**********************
In a bid to break taboos around toilets and make access to sanitation a global priority, the United Nations recognizes World Toilet Day on Nov. 19 each year. To recognize World Toilet Day, Niagara Region will be offering a free guided tour of a wastewater treatment plant.
Niagara Region has 11 wastewater treatment facilities that process 187.5 million litres per day of sewage treatment to protect the Great Lakes from pollution and practice responsible environmental stewardship. On this tour, wastewater operators will walk participants through the plant to explore the various phases of wastewater treatment.
