Watermain work on St David's Road may cause smelly or cloudy water next week, region warns

"By completing this upgrade work now, we can plan ahead for this service disruption and ultimately make Niagara Region’s water system more reliable and secure,” said the region in a statement.

Regional crews will descend on St David’s Road starting next week, to repair a watermain, and perform other construction upgrades.

Between July 7-8, crews will work starting at 7 a.m, during which time a small amount of houses on St David’s road might experience interruptions in water service.

Other residents in the area might experience things like low water pressure and water quality issues, such as cloudy, odorous or miscolored water.

The region asks to be patient.

“We understand these repairs may cause some inconveniences. However, these upgrades are necessary. If there were to be an unexpected failure of this infrastructure, the impact would be far greater with a possible loss of water service for several days for emergency repair. By completing this upgrade work now, we can plan ahead for this service disruption and ultimately make Niagara Region’s water system more reliable and secure,” said the region in a statement.
