The Niagara River Lions got back in the win column Friday night after defeating the Guelph Nighthawks 112-109.
Seventeen turnovers were the downfall for Guelph, whose 43-point fourth-quarter comeback attempt fell short against a balanced offensive attack from the River Lions.
Six Niagara players scored double-figures with Kassius Robertson once again leading the way with 20 points off the bench. Trae Bell-Haynes had an efficient 18 points in 21 minutes. Nem Mitrovic connected on five three-pointers for 19 points while Yohanny Dalembert led the team in rebounding with nine.
Marcus Lewis led the Nighthawks in scoring with 26 while the former University of Texas guard Myck Kabongo had 15 points.
River Lions remain undefeated at the Meridian Centre this season but suffered their second loss thus far to the Hamilton Honey Badgers earlier this week.
Niagara looks to keep the home-winning streak alive against the Saskatchewan Rattlers on June 21. While Niagara remains atop the CEBL standings, the Rattlers are hovering closely below and have put up a fight in both losses to Niagara earlier this season.
