The Spartans Jr. B Lacrosse team is on the ropes after dropping the first two games to the Elora Mohawks in their first round playoff match up. They find themselves facing elimination in the best of five series.
Friday, the Spartans opened the series in Elora and lost by a 12-9 margin.
Last night they were home at the Frank Doherty arena in Thorold and suffered a 9-6 loss.
At the end of two periods the teams were locked in a 5-5 tie but the Mohawks outscored the Spartans by a 4-1 margin in the third period.
Sam LeClair once again led the Spartans with four points including two goals and two assists. Alex Gaston had two goals while Tyler Kolodka and Blair Pachereva each contributed one goal.
Adam Brennan faced 42 shots in the Spartans goal and took the loss.
Zack Cameron had four points for the Mohawks while Nathan Bolger and Trent Spear each had three points.
The teams will square off again for game three in Elora this Wednesday at 8 p.m.
If necessary, game four will be at the Thorold arena Friday June 28, at 8 p.m.
