The Thorold Canadian Corps peewees became the reigning champions in the Beaverloch hockey tournament this afternoon.
Gavin Sawatsky, assisted by Chase Coppola, scored for Thorold in the first period but the Ingersoll Express tied it up in the second period and that’s the way it stayed through the third period and a period of overtime.
But the Thorold Blackhawks outscored Ingersoll three goals to one in a shootout to take the Beaverloch Farms 25th annual tournament in the peewee division.
Goaltender Nicholas Sattarzadeh backstopped the team to the victory with a near-perfect performance.
