Calgary Stampeders sign all eight of their 2019 draft picks to CFL contracts

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have signed all of their 2019 draft picks, including first-round selection Hergy Mayala.

Calgary took the six-foot-one, 206-pound Mayala eighth overall out of Connecticut. The Montreal native had 40 catches for 361 yards and five TDs as a senior last season and finished his college career with 113 receptions for 1,352 yards and 12 touchdowns in 43 games.

The Stampeders also signed defensive lineman Vincent Desjardins (Laval, second round), offensive lineman Zack Williams (Manitoba, third round), linebacker Fraser Sopik (Western, fourth round), offensive lineman Jaylan Guthrie (Guelph, fourth round), defensive back Nick Statz (Calgary, sixth round), linebacker Job Reinhart (Guelph, seventh round) and receiver Colton Hunchak (York, eighth round).
