It is with great sadness that our family announces Barb’s passing on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Niagara Health St. Catharines Site, peacefully with her family by her side. Barbara married John T. Barber on November 16, 1946 and together they raised their six children who will lovingly remember her: Paula (John), Mary Lou (Robert), Charlie, Patricia (Terry), Lee, and Drew (Denise). She was the proud grandma to 14 grandchildren: David, Candice, Kathryn, Paul, Beverly, Kevin, Charles Jr., James, April, Kaylee, Jacob, Jonathan, Jeremy and Jenna and many Great and Great-great grandchildren.
Barbara was born April 15, 1929 in Niagara Falls, attending St. Catharines Collegiate. Starting her employment as a Bell Telephone operator, she then attained her Nurses Aide Certificate from Niagara College, specializing in geriatric care. She continued her education in food services and became a culinary expert, also taking numerous business and computer courses. Adding “author” to her list of accomplishments once she completed her autobiography, Mom truly lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed the simple pleasures - spending time with family and friends, travelling, tai chi, line dancing, competitive pool at the Dunlop Centre for Adults, and enjoying plays, musicals and concerts, possessing an uncanny ability to reach people deeply and positively. Barbara was a devoted member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church since childhood.
Family, friends and others whose lives Barbara touched are invited to a memorial service in celebration of her life at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM where there will be a time to reminisce, grieve and support one another. She will be laid to rest at Victoria Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Donations to St George's Anglican Church - Breakfast Program and online condolences in Barbara’s memory may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com.
