June 25, 1928 - January 7, 2021

It is with great sadness our family announces the death of George V. Dorward on January 7, 2021 at the age of 92 years.

George is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Lorna Ruth, and his children Steve (Deanna), Mike (Kimberly) and Ann (Steve) and his eight grandchildren: Melissa, Shane, Keyanna, Kenzie, Christine, Emily, Grace and Graham. George is predeceased by his three sisters, Olive, Emma and Cicely, and his parents, George and Elizabeth Jane. As a person who liked games and sport, "Uncle George" was a favourite with his nieces and nephews, June, Paul, Stuart, David, Cheryl, Lynn, Alan, Tony, Susan, Ruth and their families. George lived a very full life; born in Harworth England, he was a member of the Royal Air Force from 1946-1954. George and Lorna were married in England in 1954, subsequently emigrating to St. Catharines in 1957 and raising their family. George was employed with General Motors for 27 years as a sheet metal worker (tinsmith). George was an exceptionally hard worker and very creative in his trade; his family was always amazed at his ability to make just about anything.

George was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and past president of Branch 138 in Merritton. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be arranged for a future date when family and friends can be together. Memorial donations can be made to the The Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund (legion.ca/donations).
