June 4 1939 – October 27 2024
Our incredible Mom passed away peacefully, with family by her side, from sudden health complications, at NHS-St. Catharines Site on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Evelyn Feor (June 4, 1939) was a curious, adventurous, gentle person as well as Mom, sister and aunt. She was a proud “Cookie Grandma” and “Bonus Mom” to many.
She spoke with fond memories of her 30+ year career at Bell Canada, a large part of her life before retirement in 1998. She often reminisced about her “Girls” from Bell and proudly talked about the days when switchboard jacks were used to connect calls prior to technology and actually carried one on her key chain until this day.
She donated generously to her favourite charities; a very loving individual who saw only the good in others. Mom was also a fighter, having experienced complications from knee replacement surgery, followed by random lung cancer diagnosis requiring major surgery over the past 2 years. This never prevented her from living her fullest life and maintaining a positive outlook.
She loved her family wholeheartedly and spent many hours walking along the lake and enjoying nature. Mom had a passion for travel, especially to Fort Myers Beach, Fla, Rolphton, ON, and Sardinia to visit family, she never turned down a road trip when offered.
Born in Jansen, Sask., Mom shared detailed stories and experiences of the simple life. She also loved reading, gardening, family gatherings and jigsaw puzzles; but her true love was for the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoying an ice cream cone.
Mom’s passing has left a hole in our family as she was part of our daily lives. Her three children, Mike Feor (Deirdre McInnes), Debbie Swartz (Darcy), and Rick Feor (Lindsay Zwart) who will now have to learn to live a life without her in it.
Mom will be reunited with her mother and father, Anne & Herbert Eppendorf, sister, Margaret Ledda, brother, Irvin Eppendorf, and many past fur babies. Mourning her is, brother, Kenny (Sonja), sister-in-law, Glenna, numerous nieces, nephews and their families, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly (especially her delicious cookies!).
Our family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Niagara EMS, St. Catharines Fire Services, NHS-St. Catharines Site as well as various nurses and PSWs who cared for her in her final moments, a special thank you to Dr.’s Rungi & McCullagh and a hug to a special Nurse, Laurie. A warm appreciation also goes to the spiritual care coordinator for NHS who graciously helped us feel more at peace with this great loss.
We are extremely grateful for our friends and family who have shown amazing kindness, generosity and support during this very difficult time.
Mom was clear in her request to not have a service or memorial; however, immediate family will definitely have a small gathering that will involve good food and chocolate in her honour. Mom would prefer we encourage donations to the charity of your choice, to cheer loud for “Her Blue Jays”, to read a good book and enjoy a large ice cream cone in her memory.
Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
