(Aug 12, 1938 - Nov 1, 2024)

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the NHS-St. Catharines Site.  He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Karen, their son, John Craig ‘J.C.’ (Elizabeth), grandson, Craig (Jaclyn), and granddaughter, Catherine (Blake); his brothers, Serge (Carol), Jean-Luc (Betty), Fernand (Diane) and François; his sisters, Élise Légère (late Gérald), Danielle Smith (Robert), Hélène (Dave Petty) and Cécile.  He is predeceased by his parents, François-Xavier Maltais and Rose-Délima (née Ouellet), step-mother, Solange (Dupras); his brothers, Roland (late Micheline) and Rosaire and his sisters, Églantine ‘Tina’ (late Louis) Lahaie and Mariette (Ghislain) Girard.

Larry was born in Lac Saint-Jean, Quebec and moved to St. Catharines as a French-speaking young child, when his father moved the family to work on the power project in Niagara Falls.  He started work as a young teenager, delivering telegrams by bicycle for C.N.  He progressed through many jobs with the company over his very long and successful career.  Larry was an avid sports fan and was an excellent skater and hockey player, having played Industrial League Hockey for many years.  He loved watching and supporting his Montreal Canadiens, eventually with his son and grandson.  GO HABS GO!  Larry also had a deep passion for playing and watching golf and was a former member of Sawmill, Peninsula Lakes, and Sparrow Lakes Golf Clubs.  He was a long-time member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. #24 where he had many friends and proudly played in their ‘Rinky-dink’ golf league for years.

The family would like to thank the healthcare team at NHS-St. Catharines Site.  A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Care St. Catharines/Thorold Food Bank or Royal Canadian Legion Br. #24 (receipt may not be issued from The Legion).  https://donate.mytributegift.org/?cid=d5e99a9936066b698ab3c9ef97d1220ecc7bb53708e93648a14117892cd46ad9&fh=FRP-308918&fp=3089186b5c6c0632d102cc0b9fbb841d8e
