Passed away, after a lengthy illness, at Pioneer Elder Care, on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 89 years of age. Beloved wife of Peter for 65 years. Loving mother of Carl (Vivian) and Eric (Denise). Proud grandmother of Sol, Blake, Kate (Ryan) Neilson. She’s predeceased by her brothers, Bruce (Jan. 19, 2021) and his wife, Olivia; and Dr. Gordon “Bob” Robertson (Nov. 01, 2020) Sparks. Survived by her sister-in-law, Sandra Sparks. Dear aunt of Stuart (Nena), Susan (Tim) Cholvath, Ian (Tara) & Leslie Jane (Said) Karama and families. Barbara did not simply want to be a Mom, she wanted more, higher education to gain more knowledge and enjoy all aspects of life and being able to contribute to others lives. She obtained her B.A. from Queen’s University and her B.L.S. from The University of Montreal. After her days working in the library, she retired from being a teacher/librarian from Richmond Hill High School in 1984. Later she spent six years writing for community newspapers in Midland before retiring in Niagara Falls in 1990 and finally St. Catharines in 1999.
