1934 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bud, on October 24, 2024, at the Welland County General Hospital at the age of 89. Predeceased by his wife Marilyn in 2023. Loving father of Jennifer Rice (Brian) and Deborah Norton (Todd). Proud grandfather of Taylor Rice (Ben), Sarah Rice, Krysten Macias (Diego), Ana Norton (Erin). Great-grandfather of Oscar Macias.

It was a life well lived.  Dad had many hobbies and interests over the years that kept him out of Mum's hair at least for a bit. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and exploring new places.  Dad, lover of local history, had a soft spot for the Wainfleet/Lowbanks area where some of his ancestral roots were. He was a member of the Niagara Antique Power Association for many years.

He was also a prolific painter, a poet and an accomplished musician playing music with the Cooks Mills Ramblers, the Niagara Old Tyme Fiddlers just to name a few.  All of this led to many lasting friendships and great adventures.   He will be missed.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, psw’s and staff of the 6th floor of the Welland hospital for their great care and kindness.

Cremation has taken place. The family will gather at Pelham Friends cemetery for burial at a later date.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
