Three people are dead after a head-on collision east of Cornwall, Ont., Thursday evening.
Provincial police say emergency crews responded to a collision on County Road 2, near McGibbon Road just after 9 p.m.
Police say an eastbound vehicle crossed into the westbound lane of the roadway, forcing at least two drivers to evade it but a head-on collision happened moments later, causing one of the vehicles to catch fire.
They say the lone occupant of the eastbound car and the driver and one passenger in the westbound vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, while another passenger from the westbound vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the deceased are a 16-year-old girl from Champlain Township, Ont., a 65-year-old woman from Cornwall, Ont., and a 44-year-old man from Ottawa. The injured is a 16-year-old boy from Cornwall.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
