Disturbance results in pellet gun injury for Niagara male

Both males were arrested at the scene, one was released without charge while the other faces a charge of assault with a weapon

On Jan. 15, 2019, at approximately 5:45 p.m. Niagara Regional Police, 2 District Niagara Falls uniform officers responded to a hotel in the area Lundy's Lane and Brookfield Avenue in Niagara Falls for a weapons call.

Officers initially responded to a report of an armed male and shots being fired. When officers arrived on-scene their investigation determined that a disturbance between two males had escalated to the point where one was shot once by a pellet gun.
 
The 49-year-old Niagara Falls male who was struck by the pellet received superficial injuries.

Both males were arrested at the scene for weapons related offences. As a result of further investigation by detectives, Rui Antonio Aguileira (60 years old) of Niagara Falls has been charged with the alleged offence of:
  • Assault with a weapon
The 49-year-old male victim was released without charge.

On Jan. 16, 2019 the accused Aguileira attended a bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
