Man pronounced dead in hospital after fire in Thorold

Police say one person died in a fire Sunday in Thorold.

Police say 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Beaverdams Road and Baker Street in Thorold in regards to a fire call and found the rear of a residence completely engulfed in flames.

The Thorold Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

An adult male was located suffering from life threatening injuries as a result of the fire.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, police said in a release.

Detectives from 1 District are investigating and are working with the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office and the Office of the Coroner.
