On Nov. 21, 2022, at 12:28 p.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded to a robbery in the City of Thorold. Upon arrival in the area of Pine Street South and Beaverdams Road, it was determined that a local business had been robbed by an unknown male suspect.
Initial investigation determined the suspect arrived at the business, riding a blue and silver bicycle. Then, he entered the business and brandished a black handgun before demanding money from the cashier. After receiving an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency, the suspect fled the scene east on Beaverdams Road toward Patricia Street. The cashier did not sustain any physical injuries.
The suspect is described as follows:
- Male
- 20 to 30 years of age
- Wearing a black/grey Tommy Hilfiger jacket
- Wearing a black mask with a white Air Jordan logo
A search of the surrounding area by responding officers resulted in the recovery of the suspect's bicycle determined to be a Schwinn road bike, along with the grey Tommy Hilfiger jacket, black mask, and black replica pistol that was believed to have been used in the robbery.
Detectives assigned to the 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being assisted by members from the Forensic Services Unit. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009590.
