Throughout the summer months of 2019, the 1 District (St. Catharines) Street Crime Unit (SCU) began investigating the sale of fentanyl and cocaine.
On the morning of Aug. 29, 2019 the St. Catharines Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Special Investigations Unit, 3 District (Welland) Street Crime Unit, Emergency Task Unit (ETU), Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) and uniform officers along with the Toronto Police Service Tactical Unit executed search warrants at two residences in the City of Thorold and one residence in the City of Toronto.
Execution of the search warrants yielded a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000, a long gun and a hand gun along with a large quantity of Canadian currency estimated at $105,000.
Twenty-five-year-old Jurrell Gaddishaw of the City of Thorold is facing the following alleged charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine) for Purpose of Trafficking 5(2) CDSA
- Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000 355(a) CC
- Careless Storage of Firearm 86(1) CC
- Possession of Restricted/Prohibited Firearm without Licence 91(1) CC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Weapon 91(2) CC
- Possession of a Weapon 88(1) CC
- Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition 95(1)(2)(a)(i) CC
- Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle 320.13(1) CC
Fifty-year-old Travis Gillan of the City of Thorold is facing the following alleged charges:
- Careless Storage of a Firearm 86(1) CC
- Possession of Restricted/Prohbited Firearm without Holding Licence 91(1) CC
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (fentanyl) 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine) 4(1) CDSA
- Fail to Comply with Recogniance 145(3) CC
Twenty-seven-year-old Brooke Blom of the City of Toronto is facing the following alleged charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine) for Purpose of Trafficking 5(2) CDSA
- Careless Storage of Firearm 86(1) CC
- Possession of Restricted/Prohibited Firearm without Licence 91(1) CC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Weapon 91(2) CC
- Possession of a Weapon 88(1) CC
- Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition 95(1)(2)(a)(i) CC
Gaddishaw, Gillan and Blom are all currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019.
