Shots 'fired into the sky' at end of noisy St. Catharines house party

After responding to noise complaint at 2 a.m., officers were back at around 4:55 a.m. for a report of shots fired

Niagara Regional Police say they are investigating after people who attended a noisy party in the north end of St. Catharines early this morning fired multiple rounds skyward as they were leaving the festivities. 

According to a Niagara Regional Police news release, at around 2 a.m. 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers responded to the Port Weller neighbourhood for a noise complaint related to a house party.

"Officers attended and spoke with the occupants regarding excessive noise," police said.

At around 4:55 a.m. officers were called back to the area of St. Louis Place, Croydon Drive, and Arthur Street in response to shots being fire.

Police said unknown people left a house party, got in to multiple vehicles and "fired numerous shots from firearms into the sky". 

The shooters then fled the area in the vehicles, according to police.

No injuries or damage was reported in the incident, police said.

Police said anyone with information or who may have been in the area, is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009642.

Anyone (residents / business owners) who may have been in the area with cell phones, closed circuit video recording, or dash camera footage between 4 and 6 a.m. on Aug. 25 is asked to review their footage of the area and contact police if they observe anything suspicious. 

People who were at the party and have photos or video are also asked to contact detectives.
