St. Catharines man arrested after smashing windows of Thorold bar

A patron, who had been asked to leave earlier in the night, took a sledgehammer to the windows of Harry's New York Bar

It was a wild Sunday night at Harry's New York Bar on Front Street South. A disgruntled customer took a sledgehammer to the windows of the downtown establishment.

Niagara Region Police say they arrived on the scene on Monday, August 5, 2024, at approximately 1:10am, in relation to a property damage call in progress.

The ensuing investigation revealed that two patrons had been asked to leave on August 4th, 2024 at approximately 11:00 pm, for causing a disturbance. One of the two patrons later returned to the bar, wearing a ski mask and armed with a sledgehammer.

The patron then proceeded to smash several windows of the establishment before he was stopped by citizens and held until police arrived. 

Kyle CROOKER (36 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Disguise with Intent

Crooker was released on a form 10 undertaking and is expected to attend his first appearance on September 20th, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
