In January, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) began an investigation into a sexual assault that occurred in the City of St. Catharines.
Investigation revealed that a female and male met via an online dating app.
As a result of the investigation, on March 6, Jeffrey Battle was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
- sexual assault
- overcome resistance by attempting to choke
