Welland store raided, illicit psilocybin seized by police

In January of 2025, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Street Crime Detectives assigned to 3 District (Welland/Pelham) commenced an investigation into the distribution of psilocybin from an illicit storefront Fun Guyz located at East Main Street in the City of Welland.

On Jan. 30, 2025, detectives received judicial authorization to execute a search warrant at the premise. As a result of the investigation, one suspect was arrested and detectives recovered the following:

  • Psilocybin tablets
  • Pre-Packaged Psilocybin edibles
  • Pre-Packaged Psilocybin
  • Value of the seized property is $10,850

Police also seized Canadian currency believed to be derived from the illicit sale of psilocybin.

Kyle von Ryan (38 years old) of Ridgeway has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance (Psilocybin) for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

von Ryan was released from custody by way of an Officer in Charge Undertaking with a future court date. The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.
