Thorold Legion Branch 17 is hosting a Remembrance Day parade and ceremony on Monday, November 11th, 2024 at Memorial Park.
“From Friday, November 1st to Remembrance Day, millions of Canadians wear a poppy as a visual pledge to never forget those who sacrificed for our freedom,” said Glenn Kempson, Legion Branch 17 poppy chair. “We invite everyone across the country to show their recognition by proudly wearing this symbol of Remembrance and taking a moment to reflect on
November 11th this year”
The Remembrance Day Parade, will begin in the parking lot behind Thorold Legion Branch 17 at 10:20 a.m. The parade will proceed West on Albert Street, South on Front Street, East on Sullivan Avenue/Clairmont Street, North on Chapel Street, and West on Albert Street to the Cenotaph in Memorial Park for 11:00 a.m.
Thorold residents are invited to watch the parade and attend the ceremony that will be held at the Cenotaph in Memorial Park. The ceremony will begin at 10:55 a.m. and a moment of silence will commence at 11:00 a.m.
Glenn Kempson added, “For those unable to attend the Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony, we hope that you will stop, wherever you are, and observe a moment of silence on Monday, November 11 at 11:00 am to honour the fallen and thank all of the brave men and women who served.”
The poppy flag is currently flying at City Hall and will be lowered to half-mast at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Residents are invited to purchase a poppy at City Hall reception or other various locations throughout the City.

Lest we forget!”
