In a bid to break taboos around toilets and make access to sanitation a global priority, the United Nations recognizes World Toilet Day on Nov. 19 each year. To celebrate World Toilet Day, Niagara Region will be offering two free guided tours of a Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Niagara Region has 11 wastewater treatment facilities that process 187.5 million litres of sewage per day to protect the Great Lakes from pollution and practice responsible environmental stewardship. On this tour, wastewater operators will walk participants through the plant to explore the various phases of wastewater treatment.
