Life is a little more “grand” for Josip Kulhanek of Niagara Falls. He matched all five main numbers to win a second prize of $25,000 a year for life with DAILY GRAND in the March 4, 2024 draw. His ticket was one of two that won the second prize.
Josip, a retiree, has been a regular lottery player with OLG since the days of WINTARIO. He now enjoys playing games such as DAILY GRAND and DAILY KENO, using OLG’s Quick Pick feature to make his selections. He is now thrilled to celebrating his first big win!
“I was at the store when I decided to check my ticket. I thought the ticket checker said I had won $250, but the store clerk pointed out the additional zeros,” Josip recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I was shocked and speechless! The clerk reminded me to sign my ticket; he was so happy for me.”
Josip is now ready to share the good news with his family. “Nobody knows I won. I’m a good secret keeper! I look forward to telling my family tonight when I get home,” he smiled.
“When I realized I had won, it was like I’d been stuck by lightning,” Josip chuckled. “It was a wonderful surprise that I have been patiently waiting for. This experience has been great, and it feels good to win!”
With his windfall, Josip plans to do some work around the house, upgrade his vehicle and share with his children. “I may even celebrate with a trip to Croatia,” he concluded.
DAILY GRAND is a national lottery game with a top prize of $1,000 a day for life for matching the five main numbers plus the Grand Number. The second prize is $25,000 a year for life for matching the five main numbers. DAILY GRAND is $3 per play and draws take place on Mondays and Thursdays.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on McLeod Road in Niagara Falls.
