It’s only been a few months since City Hall announced their intent to hand out more parking tickets, but boy, oh boy, did they already deliver.

A whopping 1045 tickets were issued in the third quarter of this year, compared to 735 tickets issued in Q2 and 284 tickets issued in Q1.

The uptick does not come as a surprise as City Hall has made an effort to recruit more parking by-law officers.

The number brings the total parking tickets issued this year up to 2064. 3898 tickets were issued in 2023, so City Hall still has some work to do if they want to keep up their annual numbers.

When it comes to Active Residential Rental Licenses in the city, there’s been a decline. There are currently 942 active rental licenses compared to 1049 in the second quarter. It is unclear why that is. Only 29 new Residential Rental Licenses were issued in the third quarter of this year, compared to 66 and 69 in previous quarters.

A comprehensive report on the city's Residential Rental Licensing program is expected to come before council in the coming months.

When it comes to parking issues being flagged by residents, there were 212 complaints received in the third quarter of this year.

There were also 323 complaints about people’s yards, eight complaints about improper fencing, 23 noise complaints and 38 property standards complaints, as well as 15 signs complaints.
