Friends of Beaverdams Church celebrate all things apple

Celebration meant to showcase work group put into restoration of historic building

Skies may have been cloudy with a threat of rain, but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of supporters of the Friends of Beaverdams Church (FOBC) who turned out for Applefest.

A steady stream of people visited the church on Saturday for the event, celebrating all things apple with pies and other goodies including butter tarts and local honey. There was also a photo booth, games for the kids and vendors selling a variety of goods.

The FOBC have been spearheading the efforts to restore the church, which was built in 1832. With the work complete, it was a chance for the group to show off the revitalized building.

The event also included a silent auction, the proceeds of which will go to maintaining the church and to help build a walkway to the church’s recently installed washroom.

The FOBC will also be hosting a fundraising concert on Saturday Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. featuring Performance on Point. Tickets for the concert can be purchased at Print Three on Sullivan Avenue, or by phone at 905-227-7556.
