The Niagara Health Foundation is excited to announce the return of the Celebration of Lights holiday fundraising campaign, inviting the community to share the warmth of the season with those in need of care. With the generous, ongoing support of Alectra Inc., the Foundation is able to continue this heartwarming tradition, bringing hope and comfort to patients and their families across Niagara Health hospitals.

The theme for this year’s campaign, “Celebrate Recovery, Support Healing, Honour Someone Special,” reminds us of the profound impact our healthcare providers and facilities have on the lives of those facing health challenges. Through the Celebration of Lights, the community has a unique opportunity to show support for patients who, during the holidays, find themselves in the care of dedicated healthcare teams.

The campaign will run from November 14, 2024 through the holiday season, and donations can be made at www.LightsForHealth.com. Contributions of $50 or more will be recognized with personalized holiday bulbs, each inscribed with a name or message of the donor’s choice and displayed at a Niagara Health site selected by the donor.

This year, the Celebration of Lights campaign highlights the Niagara Health Children’s Health Unit, where the holiday spirit brings moments of joy and comfort to young patients and their families during challenging times. The unit, adorned with festive lights and decorations, helps create a sense of normalcy and warmth, ensuring children have a warm and comfortable place to celebrate the holiday season despite being away from their home. “It’s a special time at the Children’s Health Unit,” says Lindsay Johnston, a Child Life Specialist at Niagara Health. “We wish all families could be home for the holidays, but we work to make sure that our young patients still feel the joy and comfort of the season.”

With the support of donors and community partners like Alectra Inc., Niagara Health Foundation continues to provide much-needed resources, from essential equipment to specialized programs, helping ensure that patients across all ages experience the highest quality of care.

Andrea Scott, President & CEO of Niagara Health Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the community’s ongoing commitment, "Thanks to our community’s generosity and Alectra Inc.’s steadfast support, Celebration of Lights has become a beacon of hope and care each holiday season. Every gift helps light the way for patients and their families, bringing comfort and strength when they need it most.”

“Alectra is proud to continue our support of Niagara Health Foundation’s Celebration of Lights, a campaign that brings light and hope to so many in our community,” said Brian Bentz, President and CEO of Alectra Inc. “This holiday season, as we ‘Celebrate Recovery, Support Healing, and Honour Someone Special,’ we’re reminded of the profound difference that caring gestures make for patients and their families. With great pride, we stand with Niagara Health and the community to support this meaningful cause and to help spread warmth and comfort across Niagara during the festive season.” - Brian Bentz, President and CEO, Alectra Inc.
