Man arrested after youth sexually assaulted at Thorold elementary school

Police say three people, including one youth, were assaulted on Wednesday afternoon

On Wednesday, Nov. 13 2024 at approximately 4:30 p.m., 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) attended Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Elementary School located at 41 Collier Rd. S. in the Town of Thorold in relation to a sexual assault call.

Investigation revealed a male suspect was outside of the school when he approached a female under the age of 16 and grabbed her buttocks. 

The suspect then proceeded to the area of the daycare and pushed an employee out of the way so he could enter the school. The employee was able to keep the kids safe in the hallway, however, two female employees were sexually assaulted by the adult male suspect.

At 4:50 p.m., the suspect was placed under arrest.

Nathan Arthur T. Peddle (28 years old) of Welland, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Sexual Assault (three counts)
  • Assault
  • Break and Enter Commit Sexual Assault (two counts)
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

Peddle was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Nov. 14, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.
