NOTL Christmas Market attracts holiday shoppers

There was a good selection of jam to please shoppers, from the most popular to some varieties that are hard to find, and a huge spread of beautiful gift baskets

It may have been the start of Christmas shopping for those drawn to Grace United Church Saturday, and there was something for even the most difficult to buy for.

Shortly after the market opened at 9 a.m. parking spots were at a premium, and the church hall was filled with those who came out to see what was being offered.

In addition to the bake table, which as usual was selling out quickly, the many beautiful gift baskets, lovingly assembled by church volunteers,  were an attractive solution, either for someone special or as a gift to tuck away for last-minute giving.

And of course the famous jam Grace is known for, made by David Greaves and Heinz Probst several times of year for church fundraisers, was a popular stop — Probst estimated about 300 jars on the jam table from which to choose, including some hard-to-find selections.

It was also a chance to catch up with friends and neighbours, and chat with the many volunteers who came out to make the church fundraiser a success.
