A Thorold businessman has been named as the latest naming sponsor at the newly completed Canada Games Park.

Yousef Haj-Ahmad, CEO and founder of Thorold-based Norgen Biotek, and the Haj–Ahmad Family Foundation is the latest among Niagara businesses to put his name to the sponsors of the park.

Runners who hit the track at the Canada Games Park will be stepping foot onto the Haj–Ahmad Family Foundation Track. The 200 meter track overlooks the multipurpose fieldhouse and is filled with a tremendous amount of natural light. ‘The entire space will attract, inspire and motivate walkers and runners of all ages and abilities,’ the region stated.

"This donation to the Canada Games Park facility by the Haj Ahmad Family Foundation is yet another example of their generosity and commitment to the community of Thorold and the Niagara Region,” said Marco Marino, Manager of Economic Development in a press release. “Attaching their great name to this great facility showcases a sense of purpose and pride in being a part of the exponential growth within the Niagara Region.”

In addition to the 200m suspended indoor track, one of two entrances inside the Walker Sports & Abilities Centre will be now known as The Haj Ahmad Foundation Entrance.

Canada Summer Games will be held between Aug 6 – 21. The games are held bi-annually.
