From tots to teens, Thorold skaters strutted their stuff at the Frank Doherty Arena Saturday, demonstrating their mastery of skills learned this skating season.
Dancing through the Decades is the theme of this year's 68th Annual Ice Capers, presented by the Thorold Figure Skating Club (TFSC) both Saturday and Sunday (today) at 2 p.m.
Prior to two stunning performances by reigning world champion figure skater Kaetlyn Osmond, it was revealed that, like Thorold, her hometown arena in Marystown, Newfoundland maintained ice from October through April, so eventually her family moved to what became her home rink in the Edmonton Mall, where she could skate year-round.
She began humbly, following in the footsteps of her skating sister, Natasha, but it wasn't long before she was collecting awards, and people stopped thinking of her as "Natasha's sister."
In 2014, Kaetlyn became the Canadian champion and she captured a silver medal at the 2017 world championships.
At the 2018 Olympics in PyengChang, she helped her team earn a gold medal and took home a bronze for her single efforts.
