It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Denise Mary Feltham announce her peaceful passing, after a short illness, on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024, at the Toronto Western General Hospital at the age of 66.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her devoted older sister, Vivien Elverson (Martin Brooks), her older brother, Barry Feltham (Cathy Holman), her younger brother, Geoff Feltham (Rita Leckie), her nephew, Luke Feltham, and three nieces, Krista Woudenberg (Jerry, Emily and Ethan), Ashley Murphy (Kevin, Bram and Caspian) and Alexis Feltham.  Vivien, Barry, and Geoff send heartfelt thanks to the incredible doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Toronto Western General Hospital for their incredible empathy, care and compassion making her remaining days comfortable and painless.

Denise was a truly remarkable woman.  Even with her own hearing and special disabilities, she attended Memorial University and graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in Social Work.  It was her own disabilities that gave her a deep-rooted desire to help people.  She conceived and developed a program called D.I.C.E. (Disability Impact on Career and Employment).  She worked with Universities and Colleges to help students with disabilities choose the correct career path.  She volunteered with the Suicide Prevention Line and was always available to lend a helping hand when needed.  She was incredibly involved with the Catholic Church and liked to read the liturgy at Sunday mass.  She had a passion for photography and her leisure time was spent taking pictures of nature, flowers, rainbows and spectacular sunsets.

Because of her strong faith and belief, she wanted mass in the Catholic Church and she wanted to be buried in consecrated ground with the priest's blessing.  So, in accordance with her wishes her funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 10th at the St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church located at 31 Chestnut Street East., St. Catharines, Ontario with internment to  follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery, 1483 Lakeshore Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

On Thursday we are gathering to honour and celebrate Denise's life and for those of you who can attend we would love to have you share that celebration with us.  We want to cherish her and warm our hearts with all the happy memories of “what was” rather than feeling weighed down by the sorrow of “what is no more.”

 We will celebrate her well!

Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144.  Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
