16-year-old accused of robbing Niagara Falls convenience store with a knife

Police say the youth demanded money, which was refused by the clerk

On Wednesday June 17, 2020, at approximately, 5:30 p.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls) officers, responded to the area of Riall Street and Piva Avenue, in the City of Niagara Falls,  in regards to a robbery.

Initial investigation revealed that a lone clerk at a Niagara Falls convenience store, was confronted by a youth, who was armed with a knife. 

The suspect demanded money, which was refused by the clerk causing the suspect to flee from the store. 

The suspect was known to the clerk and subsequently located by uniform officers.

A 16-year-old, from Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the alleged following offence:  

  • Robbery

They were held for bail, and will be attending court on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Robert S.K Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.

The youth can not be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The store clerk was not injured and nothing was taken during the attempted robbery.
