In September of 2024, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) detectives with the Street Crime Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service began a break and enter investigation in the City of Niagara Falls and the Town of Grimsby.
Investigation revealed a male suspect had entered a Mosque, located in the area of Stanley Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls, and entered a Worship Center, in the area of North Service Road in the Town of Grimsby and stole donation money and clothes, located inside.
As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect responsible.
Bastien Leiffet (28 years old) of Quebec, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Break, Enter and Commit Theft over $5000 (non-dwelling) (2 Counts)
Leiffet was arrested by the Peel Regional Police Service where he will appear in court before being transported to the Niagara Regional Police Service.
