Niagara cop charged with assault in road rage incident

Halton Regional Police say the off-duty officer struck the window of another vehicle on July 21, causing damage

A Niagara Regional Police officer has been charged with mischief and assault in connection with a road rage incident that occurred last month.

Nathan Parker, 56, of St. Catharines was charged after the Halton Regional Police was called in to investigate the incident, which allegedly occurred when the officer was off-duty.

On July 21, 2022, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a suspected road rage incident in the City of St. Catharines. A male suspect exited his vehicle and struck the window of another vehicle, causing damage and prompting the victim to call 9-1-1.

No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the altercation.

The NRPS identified the suspect involved in the incident as an off-duty officer from their Service and requested the assistance of the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) to conduct the investigation.

On Aug. 17, 2022, investigators with the HRPS arrested and charged 56-year-old Nathan Parker of St. Catharines with Mischief Under $5000 and Assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the St. Catharines Courthouse on October 25,2022.
