Police make arrest, seek another driver in 'road rage incident' that sent one to hospital

On Sept. 1, 2021, at approximately 3:40 p.m., 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers, the St. Catharines Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to the area of Bradley Street and Mountain Street, in the City of St. Catharines in response to a vehicle collision with an E-Bike.

Investigation revealed that a 26-year-old male who was operating a grey Volkswagen Rabbit had been involved in an alleged road rage incident with a white Nissan prior to the collision. Both vehicles were travelling westbound on Bradley Road.

At approximately 3:25 p.m., both vehicles were in the area of Bradley Street and Mountain Street, when the grey Volkswagen attempted to make a right hand turn on to Mountain Street. The Volkswagen lost control, struck a curb then collided with an e-bike being operated by a 50-year-old male that was travelling southbound on Mountain Road.

The 50-year-old male, from St. Catharines was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The 26-year-old male from St. Catharines, was charged with the following offence of:

  • Careless driving – cause bodily harm or death - Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

The investigation remains ongoing and officers are looking to identify the vehicle and driver of the white Nissan.
