On Thursday, Feb. 13, 3 District (Welland/Wainfleet) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) attended the area of Cooks Mills, in relation to two suspicious males cutting up parking meters.
Uniform officers attended the area and located the two male suspects who were also found to be in possession of stolen tools.
The investigation was continued by street crime detectives assigned to 3 District (Welland/Pelham) and as a result it was determined that the males taken into custody were responsible for a break-and-enter that occurred in Welland on Feb. 8, where construction tools valued more than $30,000 were stolen.
The males were also found to be in possession of parking meters that had been stolen from the City of Niagara Falls along with licence plates that had been stolen in the City of St.Catharines.
Jamie Roversi, 43, from Niagara Falls and Shane Cowell, 37, from Welland are charged with the following criminal offences:
- Break-and-enter to commit theft
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (two counts)
Both males were released from custody by way of an Officer in Charge of Undertaking with a pending court date.
