UPDATE: Missing senior located safe

Family is concerned for the 71-year-old's welfare

11 a.m. update:
Niagara Regional Police reports that 71-year-old Jane Buchanan has been located safe.

Original release:
Officers from 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) are searching for missing person, [71-year-old] Jane Buchanan.

Jane was last seen on Oct. 15, 2024 at approximately 5:45 a.m. in the area of Fourth Avenue and First Street Louth in the City of St. Catharines.

Her means of travel is believed to be by foot.

Jane is described as:

  • White female
  • Heavy build
  • Grey hair
  • Unstable walking
  • Wearing all grey

The police and Jane’s family are concerned for her welfare. Anyone who may have information as to her location are asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1024326.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information which leads to an arrest.
