Police training planned in Niagara Falls

People in the area can expect the sound of simulated gunfire and an increased police presense as a result

The Niagara Regional Police Service Emergency Task Unit will be conducting a training exercise in the area of Portage Road and Upper Rapids Road in the City of Niagara Falls on Oct. 17, 2024.

The training will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Members of the public in the area should expect:

  • the sound of simulated gun fire.
  • the possible smell of smoke.
  • potential controlled explosions.
  • an increased police presence.

Niagara Parks Police will be assisting with road access and closures. There will also be signage in the area regarding the training.

The public and media are asked to stay away from the training site for their safety and the safety of the officers involved.
